The calculation of body fat percentage for men

You start out with finding your estimated body density due to your age. The result is then calculated with a specific formula to find your body fat percentage.

When you have done all the measures (in mm) needed with a fat caliper (chest, abdomen and thigh), do the following:

Step 1:

1.10938 - (0.0008267 x sum of chest, abdomen and thigh in mm)
+ (0.0000016 x sum of chest, abdomen and thigh in mm squared)
- (0.0002574 x age).
= Body Density

Step 2:

After finding the body density you need to convert it to body fat percentage. The formula for doing this:

Fat Percentage = ( (4.95 / body density) – 4.5 ) x 100

The sum of this equation is your body fat percentage. Hard? For easier calculation just click on Calculator, and we'll do all the hard work for you!
